Currently there are three options, it was either composed by a female composer, Giovanni Antonio Santoni, or Giovanni Antonio Bertoli. This sonata is one of the first solo works ever written for bassoon, and is a fantastic new addition to our Italian baroque repertoire

It is written for: bassoon solo, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, bassoon, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, timpani, and strings. It is written in C-major, and got the following sections: Adagio, Allegretto (variation movement), Alla Polacca. The piece is dedicated to Anton Romberg (1771-1844), son of the composer's bassoon teacher Bernhard Anton Romberg.
