Kristian Oma Rønnes
(1991)
has been studying bassoon with his father, Robert Rønnes, since he was 5 years old.
In Spring 2010 he graduated at St. Svithun High School,
and his chambermusic studies as part time student at the music university of Stavanger.
Autumn 2007 he passed the audition as part time student at the Norwegian Academy of Music (NMH), in Oslo.
In this period he attended several orchestra and chamber projects at the school.
One of this projects was in collaboration with the world famous composer Krzysztof Penderecki.
In 2009 he was awarded the global schoolarship from Stavanger Sparebank.
From autumn 2010 he is studying bassoon at the Norwegian Academy of Music (NMH) in Oslo, with Dag Jensen.
After an audition Kristian was appointed as solo bassoonist for the Norwegian Youth Symphony Orchestra (NUSO)
for several projects the last 3 years. They had concerts in Stavanger, Bergen, Trondheim, Liverpool and more.
As bassoon soloist he has attended in the following projects:
Engagements as soloist at several concerts in Stavanger Cathedral during a 5-year period.
December 2007 he performed Dona nobis pacem for basoon and choir, by Egil Hovland, and the St. Svithun chamber choir.
Summer 2006 he completed his baroque project Antonín Jiránek-the unkown master by performing one of Jiráneks bassoon concerts with
Rogaland Youth Symphony Orchestra (RUSO) in Stavanger Concerthouse, and on their tour to Germany in the same period.
Despite his young age, he has attended several other orchestra- and chamber projects with different ensembles, nationally and internationally.

Kristian startet his composing career at the age of 12 years old, with some smaller pieces for solo piano.
Since then he has been composing works for orchestras, choirs, chamber ensembles and more. Some of these
works can be heard (mainly as MIDI-files) at his site "Compositions".
He has now been working for two years on his biggest composition so far, his
Symphony no. 1 - "Symphony Exa".
This work is written in two parts, 1st - 5th movement (Part I) and the 6th movement (Part II).
It is written for an orchestra, two choirs, SATB solists, organ and three off-stage brass ensembles.
